The others

Alongside their studio albums, Major Parkinson has released a selection of standalone singles that exist outside any album context, as well as the two live albums A Night at the Library (2022) and Live at Ricks (2015). These songs capture spontaneous moments, stylistic experiments and one-off statements, offering glimpses into the band’s evolving sound without being tied to a larger concept. Some were recorded within the sessions of the studio albums but didn't quite make the cut, some act as bridges between eras, while others are entirely self-contained stories — all expanding the Major Parkinson universe beyond the album format.

Hello world

Lyrics

Algorithm is a Dancer

The Red and the Black and the Miser's dream
The jester and the rope dancer
The boy in the tower of plasticine
Reagan Rapunzel
The juggler is peeling the orange again
Algorithm is a dancer
The rhythm devours the children of men
again and again and again
Algorithm is a dancer

Hey boy, you're just a monkey on a treadmill
I know
Hey boy, you're just a monkey on a treadmill
I know

What a big mistake
Anywhere the wind blows
Such a pretty flake
Apple wrapped in plastic
Babies, Houellebecq girls
God is stuck in traffic
Heaven's a place on earth
You're Mickey Mouse, the Molotov
You hold the line
This is your final offer

Show me the killer
You're a winner
Here's your paper crown
It's full of matches
And God's in the mirror
You're a winner
Everybody's talking about
where the worldwind blows
Show me the killer
You're a winner
You're a shooting star
You're gonna make it someday
And God's in the mirror
You're a winner
It's your birthday now
It's gonna be allright

Algorithm is a dancer

Get your camera
It's a miracle
He's going viral
He's gonna change the world
We're getting older now
Children of the Copperfield
walk through the Wall of China

Show me the killer
You're a winner
You're a shooting star
Fame is the anthem
and gods in the mirror
You're a winner
It's your birthday now
Is this the death of the West?
Show me the killer
You're a winner
You're a shooting star
Fame is the anthem
and gods in the mirror
You're a winner
Show me the killer

Take the Prescription

as if by design
miss borderline
your mind was meant to fuck you up someday
they got prozac pills
like fire drills
to moderate the light of day
and in the dark room of your heart
they just jolt you back to start
like Monopoly on ice
a piece of paradise
for me and you
you and me
always
forever

so take the prescription
follow the doctor's advise
read the instructions
swallow down these pills of demise
and come on!!
feel the pharmaceutical joy
elevate yourself towards the sky
and let yourself go
take the prescription

I saw you slipping away
just like a cigarette
I watched you under the pipeline
as they drove your life away
in October
it was over
and I remember everything
I wanna tell you that you can be inside of my dream
if I can be in yours
so hold it together!

take the prescription
follow the doctors advice
read the instructions
swallow down these
pills of demise and come on!
feel the pharmaceutical joy
elevate yourself towards the sky
and let yourself go

swirling in the breeze
hide among the trees
catch the fallen leaves
sirens in the streets
Jesus died for us
Aphroditus

kaleidoscopic colors underneath the Window
the fear of summer and the silence of the undertow
all our hymns are heathen - heaven is a place on earth
this is my happy face, I'm happy here down in the dirt
so hold it together!!

take the prescription
follow the doctors advice
read the instructions
swallow down these pills of demise
and come on!

take the prescription!
take the prescription!
come on!!
feel the pharmaceutical joy!
feel the pharmaceutical joy!!

Jonah (original version)

in heaven everyone loves you
in heaven nobody knows you
but I do

I dreamt I was a beautiful boy
sleeping in a womb of an animal
clutching the umbilical chord
my body was the map of America
they blessed me with these beautiful hands and fingers
but my belly was a bag full of chemicals
so they decorated all of the walls with mirrors
now everybody waits for the miracle

in heaven there was nothing at all
just the cauliflower shade of an atom bomb
fumbling away in the dark
with silver hooves and satelittes

I saw the battleships down by the river
and the fireworks
a cemetary on New Year's Eve
when we dressed up like animals

his name was Jonah
he was the best friend I ever had
and I remember his rifle
and his diploma
and the day that he said he was going to be the king of the world

his name was Jonah
he was the best friend I ever had
and I remember his rifle
he was a loner
but the radio said he was going to be the king of the world

his name was Jonah
he was the best friend I ever had

Munchausen by Proxy

you blow my mind away, every day
I am the uncanny valley boy
nimble and perplexing
no liver, no lungs
I’m lurking in the garret
the stairway, the hall
I think you’ve heard this story before

I’m coming home, always coming back
to the disco that they call «Munchausen by Proxy»
they made me like this
a company of strangers
a surrogate kiss for something that you cannot obtain

here I am going up around the bend
tick tock
in the pit, the pendulum is running my heart and my naked limbs
chop chop
it’s the birth of Manikin
by the Pavlovian hounds of love
I kissed a castrated suffragette
I can’t believe it would come to this my love
oh God, I’m a mated marionette
so here I am going up around the bend
I can hear the pendulum
it’s running my heart and my naked limbs
it’s the way the rhythm runs the world

one of us, one of us, one of a kind
baby, can you hear me?
are you really one of us, one of us, one of a kind?
baby, can you hear me?

Pretty Eyes, Pretty Eyes!

What is the color of your imagination?
What is the substance of your jilted soul?
Don’t say!
I don't want to know
Don’t tell!
I don’t want you to grow on me
I've told you once that some things are just better
Better left unsaid
Better
Better left unsaid

What is the purpose of your isolation?
What are you thinking when there’s no one there?
Don’t say!
I don’t want to know
Don’t tell!
I don’t want you to grow on me
I've told you once that some things are just better
Better left unsaid
Better
Better left unsaid

If you were tangible down to the core,
I would never consider you pretty
Cause your vernal features would look predetermined,
I hear the palaver of pity
Tell me who are you to justify your aging arrogance
I wasn’t like this all my life, you know,
I showed interest in other people
I was born with a curious mind just like yours,
now I’m tired, I want to sleep
Cause I miss the soothing tranquilizing bliss of ignorance

So what is the color of your imagination?
Jilted soul

Euthanasia Roller Coaster

yesterday you told me about a place
where everybody is happy all the time
far away, above the pines
they're dressed up to the nines
the purple carriages are levitated up
from the ground into the sky
people are crying so cheerfully
they know they're going to die

say goodbye to the girl with the prosthetic hand
in the backseat waving to the beat of the band
say goodbye to grandpa and his iron lung
feel the magic of the merry-go-round
say goodbye to mr. anaesthetic and his friends
to the paraplegic and molested men
pulled up into the stratosphere
it's a one-way ticket to ride

yesterday we talked about the stars
then you told me that there ain't no cure for life
but far away on the other side
silence has no price
when all the carriages are levitated up
from the ground into the sky
people are crying so cheerfully
they know they're going to die
in the euthanasia roller coaster

buckle up and watch the roasting jack of hearts
in spiralling rotation

say goodbye to the world
fading to the beat of the band
it's a one-way ticket to ride
